    Re: WC Qualifying Standards

The reason the Canadians have such hard standards is so they have an excuse when they don't do well.

      Re: WC Qualifying Standards

Webb and Gruber already have the A standard for next year. Lunn and Stember approaching 30 now have a even bigger challenge in 2005. Lunn now needs to take off 2 more seconds from his 2004 PB.

Watch out for Myers next year. He ran a 3:53 mile in 2004.

        Hey KW,

I was hoping for 7 but we are actually planning on skipping the waters until the last lap and doing all 7 at once...

        See you soon,

        Kevin

The marks as listed by Rufus C above are, as far as I can tell, the '03 Paris standards.

                Re: WC Qualifying Standards

from part of a long IAAF release today which I haven't gotten aroudn to posting:

<<Council also approved a list of entry standards for the 2005 IAAF World
Championships in Athletics, Helsinki, Finland. (The list will shortly be
                published on the IAAF website).

The IAAF Technical Delegates have made some adjustments to the 2003
standards, with the aim of having a total of around 1800-1900 athletes.
There will be standards for the Marathon (to be achieved on designated
courses) and also for the Relays. Council also approved the list of
implements to be used in Helsinki.>>
