Does nobody have a true opinion on this matter?? It seems as though I'm the only one who can see the blatant injustices occuring. I don't even really care that much about track anymore, I just hate to see credit not given where credit is due.

Gatlin won't be T&FN's choice for top U.S. athlete.

we've devoted two big threads to it - with scads of opinions - where's the beef?

and oh, BTW, if you don't care about track any more, you are really wasting your time here, aren't you?

I do care about the athletes I guess, I am just sad that the US can't seem to figure out a way to bring the sport into the mainstream. I used to have to leave the room if "THE GOLDEN SPIKE" did one more "special story" on the same people over and over. For example spending the whole time during an indoor meet talking to and about Marion Jones when she wasn't even runn in the meet. (makes you wonder why now huh?) If NASCAR and women's soccer can do it, why can't track and field make sportscenter except for every 4 years. Its just dissapointing and frustrating to be the only person it seems like in my whole city who gives a crap. I bet I was the only person in Augusta, GA watching the pole vault results on a pathetic little grid as it was happening live. . .

Now that is something I can relate with or listening to eurosport audio, thank god for the internet!

However, nothing is better than rubbing shoulders with other fans. I took some friends to one of the days at the 2000 olympic trials. I had to force them up from the Bay Area (only an hour drive), I had to buy their tickets and practically pack their lunches too. They had a great time and now follow track with a lot more interest. Where is the marketing????? The fans are out there.
