Well since tafnut seems to be asleep at the switch(or perhaps he's just an elitist), I guess I'll post on the first Afghanistan Marathon.
A five-lap race around an airbase at 4,500 feet, 188 finished receiving the same awards for completing the race as the Honolulu competitors did.
The only Afghan entrant DNF'd after 5 miles, stating "regular soccer games are no way to prepare".
I trust T&FN had a correspondent there? Hmmm?
