I am amazed at the athletic ability of these shot putters. People who think throwing from the spin is easy should try it by throwing something light. This guy Nelson has been hurt,but he might be one of the best athletes in all the sport. I'm betting he can break 11.00 in the 100meters and probably can dip under 4.4 in the 40. Does anybody know? I wish they would have a shot putters 50 meter dash just once.

These are many times the football fullback & linebacker type of guys, not just the 'big' lineman type. They are tremndously athletic individuals (women as well). Oldtimers like me will remember Brian Oldfield racing the top women sprinters at big meets for entertainment over 50 yards. He usually won. I saw Brain last week while lifting weights at a local college where he was involved with a throwing camp. I had the opportunity to talk with him for a few minutes and brought this up. He laughed. Those who appreciate technique would like the shirt he was wearing. I had not seen one like it before. It read, "Friends don't let friends squat high!"Comment
