It should be a great battle in the javelin with Zelezney and Markov. Can Greer from the US round into form and challenge for a medal. Its amazing that the Javelin never gets any TV exposure in the US.

Maybe it will get some exposure once the javelin fans in the US learn the names of the best throwers in the world... Aaah, but that will never happen :-(

As much as I hope otherwise, I think it's unlikely Breaux Greer will be able to achieve the same form this year as he did in '01 when he was 4th in Edmonton. He is still coming back froms surgery. Hopefully he'll be ready next year in Athens (Greece, not Georgia!) to challenge for a medal.

Got news for you folks...Zelezny has already indicated that he WON'T be there at Paris. The only goal he has left in his career is Athen's gold in 2004. A win there would tie him with the greats of Al Oerter and Carl Lewis as the only athletes to win 4 gold medals in the same event in consecutive Olympic Games. He'd already be there if it weren't for Tapio Korjus last throw at Seoul '88 that beat Zelezny by 6".

And for what it's worth, Zelezny has the longest throw in four straight Olympics. His qualifying mark in Seoul was farther than Korjus' winning mark in the final.
