Must admit, I was thinking the same (so being clearly under 22 was maybe a bit of a downer - not even a PB!).

But still good to see Hoffa doing well, making US men's SP'ing even more unpredictable than it already is!!

REALLY wouldn't have guessed Nelson and Cantwell finishing in the bottom two... Did anyone see what Godina's three fouls were like?

Oh, you meant throwing ... I was worried you meant literally.

After his disaster in the OTs I thought Cantwell would come out and throw huge this indoor season. Wonder what's up with him?

A lot of throwers have trouble during the indoor season. They have trouble with the indoor shot. The bigger circumfrence of it makes it a bit more difficult to grasp sometimes.

Hoffa improved by almost five feet in one week i.e. 66' 1/4" to 70' 11 1/4". If you are not impressed by such an accomplishment then it is fairly obvious that other than familiarity with track and field statistics you do not know the event.

But Cantwell, the reigning World INDOOR Champ, has never seemed to have had any problems throwing indoors before.

This is what happens when a poster's knowledge of an event is limited to last week's ESPN broadcast....

                    edit: for clarity.

It's not a PR, and how do you know that his result last week was not just an off-day?

                          Guess again.

Being a Brit, I have never watched ESPN in my life. However, I was in the stadium, watching the SP when he won the World Indoor title (admittedly, I think that's the only time I have EVER seen him compete, as most of his comps are US-based and not televised here in Europe).

But still, I'm not the only one to pick up on there being a bit of a difference to last year. Yes, during last year he was less consistent indoors than outdoors, but he still went the whole indoor season undefeated and won the WICh. Compare that to this year, and he has already lost two of his three meets, when most fans thought that the OT fiasco would have motivated him to throw further this year.

That is all I was commenting on.

I think, to most fans, that is called 'inconsistency' and not 'improving' per se.

If he is in 21.60+ form, then obviously he was having an off-day with his 20.12m from Boston.

It is a massive indoor PB; previous was 21.07 in Budapest.
