  • Positive test came from athlete already identified

LONDON -- One athlete tested positive for the steroid THG out of 360 samples analyzed from track and field's world championships, The Associated Press learned Friday.

That athlete is one of the five who previously tested positive for the new designer drug, a track official told the AP on condition of anonymity.

OK, so going with known facts and ASSUMING that the rumor-leaked people are all indeed true, the WC positive can't be John McEwen because he wasn't in Paris. It's probably not Regina Jacobs because they were unlikely to be wasting testing resources in non-finals (which she didn't make).

So it could be Dwain Chambers and it could be Kevin Toth. Or it could be the still-unnamed mystery American, although wasn't part of the rumor mill that that person wasn't in Paris?

BBC says two positives from Paris after 75% samples tested. A;; samples will be tested by tomorrow, no naming before B samples.

This doesn't mean squat. There are probably over a dozen 'designer' steroids, among other drugs, in use out there that WADA/IAAF isn't testing for, because they don't know they exist.

so whats up with the dozen or more athletes that were also rumored to have been caught for THG? was that all bogus or are they still waiting for a due process to announce the names?

they said something like "about half a dozen" which would make six. We know that five track athletes tested positive.
Then there are also the NFL positives, so I think the information that comes is pretty much that what the early reports said.

I missed this when it came out last week, but note that Toth's lawyer si calling the THG testing protocol into question after a pair of tests needed for Toth's B-positive. Is that allowed? Do you get to keep testing until you get the one you like, and discard all the others?
