  • East German Steroids' Toll: 'They Killed Heidi'

Interesting story. I don't specifically remember this athlete, but it's revealing nonetheless.

Well, NBC is to blame for this tragedy. If they hadn't pre-empted that Raiders v. Jets game with the broadcast of Heidi, none of this would ever have happened.

Heidi's chromosomal study might be interesting.

Krieger was fortunate to win at Stuttgart '86, her winning throw (21.10) coming before everyone else was drenched in a downpour. Lisovskaya did not make the final 8, a huge shock at the time.

Krieger claims to have been bullied and victimised by Ekkart Arbeit, former advisor to Denise Lewis. I don't recall her competing in many meets at all after Stuttgart.....

The competition for places on the GDR national team was very tough. Apart from that fluke victory in Stuttgart, Krieger wasn't really a major star... She did, however, achieve a 20 meter+ throw as late as 1989.

Didn't she set some good marks as a junior, though...? (Can't remember if they were WJRs or not...)
