Re: Indictments Coming In BALCO Case

I love the casualness of the lawyer's remark.

"Anderson's attorney, Bill Rapoport, said in December that he had been given no evidence that any substances removed from the residence have been analyzed. 'The inventory of what they took was so generic, like documents, computer hard drive, canister of this, bottle of that, that we don't know what's in there,' he said."

Y'know, a little of this, a little of that :-)

They just indicted Conte, Jim Valente (VP Balco),
Greg Anderson and.....Remi (wow, wasn't expecting that).

Ashcroft gets it right for once. If this had been a crack cocaine case, all the athletes would have gone to jail and the higher-ups would have been able to cut a deal in exchange for naming who they sold the drugs to.

I'm not making any accusations here, but if you believe Bond's personal trainer and supplement company to be guilty, or hypothetically they are found guilty, can you honestly not severely suspect Bonds of using something illegal?

                From that article:

"Korchemny, who was born in neighboring Ukraine ..."

How much you wanna bet you see that a lot in print. What the hell difference does that make? I think about the only time it matters where you were born is when you are running for the presidency. It's nauseating.

Re: Indictments Coming In BALCO Case

I think the Bonds link will shield T&F a bit, at least over here. The part that intrigued me the most was the email Conte sent about the Greeks, that seems to be a pretty hot smoking gun.

I wonder if Maurren Maggi was a customer?!

Now I don't want to say that the San Francisco Chronicle and San Jose Mercury News had a lot of BALCO stuff this morning, but it took me a couple of hours to read it all.

I suspect I'm a little more fascinated by this than most because I was around the international scene for almost 10 years and know what was going on. However, reading the LA Times this morning and now this excellent summary on letsrun, this scandal seems to be possibly even worse than I thought.

Just scanning the usual boards and the apologists seem to have all ducked their heads.
