  • For You Anagram Fans

From Tom Fitzgerald's sports humor column in the San Francisco Chronicle:

<<-- "I have no idea what the evidence is in this doping scandal,'' says Frank Inferrera of San Francisco. "But perhaps the prosecutors are taking their cue from the following anagram of 'anabolic steroids': 'A sin? So BALCO tried.'" >>

Beavis: He said "anagram," not "acronym."
Butthead: Yeah, yeh, yeh, henh, he-heh-he-heh.

Yes, dear, I knew that. I was 'extending' the game parameters a bit. Thinking outside the box, y'know.

Stay between the lines. The lines are your friend.

          Palindromes, anyone?

oh, I would like a good track one - my students are tired of the 'able was I' s and 'Madam, I'm' s.

As for staying inside the lines - that's too 50's. New Age mumbo-jumbo demands we all our own lines (bliss). ;-)

Yeah he's a Brit. I don't know what the heck he is talking about. Maybe it's a Monty Python kind of thing.

                        For sure this:

"big girl's blouse - a term that has more associations with the north of England, but is also used 'down south'. Normally used as a term to playfully ridicule a young man who is a bit soft and shy. The sort of thing your uncle might say to you. eg. "Come on, put your back into it you big girls blouse !". "

malmo="a young man who is a bit soft and shy". LOL

MJD, do we have to spell it out for you? The guy took it off of the Silly British Lexemes thread at Letsrun a month ago. Most offered the usual fare, I offered, "Big Girls' Blouse" which means "you pussy!"

Yes, the irony was intended and Malmo is correct in that I spotted his post on letsrun! I just tried getting the link as I found it rather amusing, however letsrun is more like letswalkinslowmotion when you hit the back button.
