  • Trying to get Conte to talk

"Conte probably would not cooperate with the drug officials without guarantees that the charges
    would be dropped or reduced."

    Well gee, no kidding.

I love the way they're bound and determined to "clean up the Olympics" all the while conveniently letting baseball skate. Senator McCain would seem to have a big hand in this movement.

I'm not sure what your point is. McCain's agenda definitely covers baseball. He took a strip off the union rep at the hearings and threatened legislation.

I suspect McCain a guy for who I have had nothing but respect is only paying lip service to attacking baseball. What really bohters me is that he is buying into this idea that the Olympic sports should somehow be treated on a higher plane. Meanwhile we know that there are baseball players who tested dirty and will not be remotely punished while at the same time they are now talking about punishing track athletes for what sounds like guilty by association even if there is no positive testing. I do not like the way this is heading. (Put on civil libertarian hat here)

Baseball , NFL , NBA et are private enterprises. Collective bargaining determines if drug testing is even part of the equation. I would wait for this guilt by association , these track athletes were singled out and for a reason.
