Conte is correct, the tests results were not from BALCO, but from a "sister" lab affiliated with BALCO.

It's my understanding that there were two other labs, both legitimate diagnostic services, with no "affiliation" to BALCO. BALCO simply farmed out the job of testing some samples to them. Indeed, I get the impression that BALCO didn't have the wherewithall to do any kind of sophisticated testing on its own premises.

Has anyone satisfactorily explained why White took modafinil, when it was really the THG that juiced her? At first I thought it was a masking agent, or perhaps a facilitator for another drug. Could it simply be that she took it to COME UP POSITIVE on a lesser evil, in hopes of covering the fact that she was on steroids? I must have missed the real explanation.

Since WADA now thinks that Modafinil is worth a 2-year pop, it's obviously--to them at least--a stimulant that packs a wallop. No more reason than that for an athlete to take it.

As for Modafinil as a masking agent for THG, that's a very popular theory, but I've yet to see any chemist say it has been proven so. The empirical evidence doesn't help, since there are those who have positives for both, yet White went down for a Mod. positive and admissions of "other stuff" which we assume includes THG but don't know for sure (yet).

But I thought I read that modafinil was small potatoes as a stimulant. Why would she not have gone for something easy like caffeine (under the allowable, of course)?
