    I made a mistake when i said way more than anecdotal. I meant way more than a Placebo. I know the increases are not all in my head because as the sky is blue when i take creatine my lifts go up I have been cycling on and off more over 5 years now and there has never been a time when my lifts
    had not increased. Mental tricks and placebos will only work some of the time but not time after time. There are some people who are classic non responders(somewhat rare) but for the vast majority i am sure they would experience the same effect.

    Zinc on its own is proven to give a subtle increase in testosterone so I dont see how ZMA could be any worse plus the added benefits of sleep dont hurt either.

    Creatine in the A group - meaning it can be provided and has scientific evidence that it can work. ZMA in the C category with "no meaningful evidence" that it works.
    If "sports drink" is classified as a supplement, then even I take them. And I cannot imagine any serious athlete hydrating with water only.

    Well i am certainly not attacking her. Just wondering if she sold herself to short being that careful. I am pretty sure even athletes like Felix and Richards Ross take some sort of supplements to help them thru training. Personally unless you are eating all organic food from the best growers I think you would not be getting all you need in your diet as an athlete training as strenously as an elite sprinter.

    Well you cant lump every supplement together. Some are nothing more than snake oil while some might be just a couple notches under the effects of steroids. Like I said before for me creatines is really effective. I document all my lifts and times and notice that when i am on creatine I always approach pbs. It is way more than anecdotal. The thing with creatine and probably alot of other supplements is you will only see the difference when pushing yourself to the limit and you need to keep very detailed records. For example if your bench press max is 300 and you have been stuck there for a while creatine might be able to help you get to around 310-315 in about two to three weeks. That may not sound like a big increase but if you have been at 300 for about a year or so any increase is appreciated. As for ZMA i have noticed alot deeper sleep and it is non habit forming so that in itself makes it beneficial. I cant vouch for whether it really increases testosterone or not but I seem to keep more muscle mass on when using it than without. I cant vouch for all the other supplements but I am sure a good amount of them have some kind of benefit beyond being a placebo or athletes would be able to see through it by now.

    Of course, too much zinc can then lead to a deficiency in copper, since they compete for the same transporter to get into our system. Copper is one of the key minerals required for mitochondria and the production of energy. So a balanced diet is the real key. And is there any real evidence that ZMA work beyond placebo? It certainly comes in a nice package.

    I always likely WIlliams but Usain Bolt and Sally Pearson don't touch supplements and they do just fine. There is some debate to the overall gain from Supplements. The body doesn't absorb them as well as nutrients in their natural form and may not use them as effectively and may compensate for them. There is a definite placebo effect involved as well.
    From my personal experience certain supplements should always be in every athletes handy bag. Creatine for me is a wonder drug and I would bet that substance alone would top the majority of all these so called stimulants(especially for sprinters). ZMA's ability to aid in recovery and mild to moderate increase in test levels are also helpful. I am not sure what people mean when they say supplements because there are probably hundreds out there .However there are some that i believe are vital and may make help a sprinter possibly drop a hundredth here a tenth there especially after reaching a mature trainng age.

    I suppose it could be put in the general current events thread but i have had many of my threads thrown into this forum and deleted as well. There is alot of room for this thread to go left and better it is in this forum before it does.
