  • Wheels off the Armstrong bus?

Item on the news today about the one and only Lance Armstrong. Accused of illegal drug use in a new book. The lawyers with the standard answer...never failed a drug test...

    http://www.mytelus.com/sports/article.d ... ID=1638675

It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the Tour this year, especially with the critical eye being cast at other athletes, and the Tour's history of performance enhancing drug use.

Actually, lawyers didn't have the standard answer of recent days. They have started to sue for libel.

The Armtrong saga is a stunning one. How can one who was so ill,win a classic race year after year? The French http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... ie%3DUTF-8 are perplexed, they can't believe it's just ttalent: they look for other answers. Lance should expect to be looked at. He should have all bases covered.

He's also got a new sponsor for "his" team, replacing Postal for next year. Just announced today. See cyclingnews.com. Will be interesting if the libel case goes anywhere.

What I guess the "French" don't understand is that he never would have won if he wouldn't have gotten ill.

              US Postal successor unveiled

Discovery Communications confirmed Tuesday a three year deal to become the title sponsor of the current U.S. Postal Service Pro Cycling Team, headed by five-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong.

I thought that the US got OLN? They cover hours and hours of it. I can't wait. No way Discovery can improve on the coverage.

That's correct. They also cover Giro d'Italia.

Then the coverage can't get anything but worse if Discovery takes it over.

OK--I'm guilty of pulling an MJD--trolling through the old posts for quotable quotes. I stumbled on the above, from the late and little-lamented paulie, that struck me as at least mildly amusing...

"Telus" , from your link has enough legal problems without pointing fingers at a great American athlete. Why won't Telus detail the " creative accounting " it used in its 2002 share holder
                        year end?

OLN is not widely carried on cable (e.g., not in bike-mad Davis CA), whereas Discovery is on many more systems.
