'Major Announcement' Expected By Marion Jones

Olympic champion Marion Jones is expected to make a major announcement in San Francisco at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Jones has been questioned by federal investigators looking into use of illegal steroids. Burlingame's Bay Area Laboratories Co-operative is at the center of the investigation.

NO, that was "I categorically and unequivocably deny these charges against me."

          Re: Pound Weighs In

Dick Pound is quoted at great length in the Wash. Post today, saying that USADA should go ahead and charge Marion Jones and let the arbitrators sort it all out, rather than let this thing drag on, with no evidence in public view.

I couldn't watch it, but was this truly a press conference or just more grandstanding?

                      To talk,in public?

She must now feel she has nothing to lose. And, that the public and the media don't understand that you can have a neg. U&B test {at the time} and still have used THG. But, not to be outdone Conte upstaged Marion:http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/...in618597.shtml "we feel a need to settle now."

i assume by 'haven' you meant 'have' taken not 'haven't'

                          Re: To talk,in public?

It appears to me Marions recent announcement is a publicity stunt.

I think she feels she's going to get banned and is doing the needed PR.

Whatever the evidence against her may be, her failures to test positive, just won't be good enough.

She can go to court and get judgements to support her view, but when push coems to shove, she won't be running in athens...

but what she could be is a huge financial settlement as she sues and get really big $$$$$$$.

I suspect that's where her interests will be best settled.

                          did she do anythingn chemically...

only she and lance armstrong can answer those questions,

Lance may have had an excuse [if he in fact did use], he could have died,he wanted to recover. Marion: competition was using and she wasn't going to approach the WR.

I must just be the most gullible person in the world, because I REALLY don't think she would have just made that big fuss unless she really were innocent. If she comes up dirty now, she would have to hide in a cave for the next 50 years to keep from public ridicule. I'm still with her.
