Yes! Unscientifically I think Zelezny would have gone over 106m with the old jav.

Re: Uwe Hohn vs Jan Zelezny: which is better?
kurt
those 2 records are impossible to compare because of the almost certain huge(unknown) wind involved in both
however, i see no reason why someone couldn't do a computer simulation/modelling,for both types of javelin, taking into account their different centre of mass & different aerodynamic properties & off course assuming 0 wind
for the same energy applied & optimum release angle for both, there should be no reason at all not to come up with a comparison in distance
i.e. under controlled conditions what 104m with old type equates to for new & what 98m with new equates to with the old
i would imagine anyone who's involved in aeronautics could give us these answers in no time at all given the appropriate input data !

Re: Uwe Hohn vs Jan Zelezny: which is better?
NO. When trying to compare marks, assumptions have to be made with regard to specific conditions (wind strength & direction, etc...). Assumptions are not possible to be made if one is to truly scientifically compare efforts. For better or worse, there is no way to compare.
