This being my b-day (39-ish........, I wish), I know the basic answer: Werner Lueg tied the 1500 WR, with (I think), 3:43.0...

D??, well yes...although I'm not sure about "prominent"...!

In fact, I was born on THE day: June 29, 1952... There you have complete disclosure...

Think for sure it was Lueg @ 3:43, tying a record set by Haegg in '44 or '45, and tied by Strand a few years later, '47 I think.

Yes, that was Lueg and Steve is right about Strand in 1947. Lueg was only 21 in '52 but never really lived up to his early promises.
The B question is maybe a bit obscure unless you are an old Euro guy like me.

Since--I'm flattered--I presume I'm the "D" above, I give myself a free pass, in relation to B, to LIU (that is, look it up). The answer is: Gunter Dohrow (who dat???). To paraphrase (more or less), our estemmed LR: Gunder Haegg was very famous, and so wasn't Gunter Dohrow. Hee, hee...

"Kuha: Happy Birthday and best wishes for many more!"

Hey, thanks! I'll keep plugging away... so far so good... An unoriginal thought: it's a bit scary how fast 53 years go by!

Yes, Kuha I knew you could do it. Don't worry about 53 or 54 for that matter. But when you hit 55 it gets more serious again. For me that was all in the last century.

I agree Per 53 and 54 are very last century.
