Which Div. I men's coach guided his team to the NCAA tourney 23 times since the early 1970s, winning it all twice and going to the Final Four a few other times (didn't check the exact number) yet never had his team ranked #1 during the regular season by the pollsters?

Re: NCAA hoops trivia
23 times and won only twice? I can only think of three coaches that have won the NCAAs twice since the early 70s, Denny Crum of Louisville, Jim Calhoun of UConn and Dean Smith of North Carolina. I'll guess Louisville and John Wooden's former assistant, Denny Crum.

We have a winner. This was in Sports Illustrated last week. It was a surprising bit of trivia given how many years UL was in the top ten and in the hunt for the Final Four and the title.
