I've done this before...what the hell?

Let's head off to that fantasy stadium just over the hill. It's the NFL's track&field championships. Each team can enter two athletes in each event. Except for the relays of course. An athlete can only compete in one individual event and the relays.

    Ok here we go...

    Mmm?

Work with me on that mile relay. Not saying all those guys were 400 men, just saying they could probably run a relay.

Got to talk about the Raiders here. If we took all the tracksters that sometime in their NFL career played for the silver and black we'd be looking at this....

    Don't forget Jerome Mathis

participated in track in college, winning the 200-meter dash at the 2003 and 2004 NCAA East Regional…set the East Regional record in the 200-meter dash with a personal best 20.32 in 2004…was a two-time NCAA All-American in the 200-meter dash after a runner-up finish in 2003 and a sixth-place effort in 2004

All of those mentioned in the 200 were more accomplished in the 200 than Mathis.

Brutal, I say the team with Bob Hayes anchoring wins every time.
... nothing really ever changes my friend, new lines for old, new lines for old.

I agree that Hayes was awesome "but" got to go with the Raiders there.

          C

As Bo Jackson watches. There are countries that can't hang with the Raiders when it comes to speed.

Branch ran a slew of 9.2's while at Colorado, but did little on the national stage. All of those guys ran on national teams. All but Gault ran a sub 10.10.

Didn't Alan Page complete a marathon a year or two ago? I can't imagine much quality in the marathon, but an awesome competitor on the football field.

Both Branch and Gault were a blast to watch... I think raw talent wise Gault was the most amazing... seemed to have the most speed in a football uniform of any besides Hayes.

Branch ran exactly one (1) 9.2.

This has always intriqued me. I have read where he actually ran 6 of them. I have also seeen Homer Jones listed with a 9.3 best and then a 9.4 best. Can't recall where I got that info about Branch.

We all read all kinds of things, but the motto of these forums is "facts not fiction"; if you're going to present yourself as the ultimate sprint expert you're laying an even heavier burden on yourself to back it up with real facts, not half-rememberances.
