Happy 83rd birthday today (Sunday) to an Olympic champion who won two Olympic gold medals at one Olympic Games, not too far from where this athlete was born.

Some controversy followed our birthday person in and out of track & field.

    Enough said for now.

Name our birthday athlete for this fourth Sunday of March.

There are now three quizzes waiting for answer. I'll try this one, although this is just a guess. This athlete is born 1937, and might have competed in 1960. "Schied" sounds like German, although quier quite doesn't. In any case, my guess is Armin Hary, who won 100m in Rome; perhaps Germany also won the relay?

Yes, Germany won the short relay. Sime overtook Martin Lauer on the final leg, but the US team was disqualified. I think you nailed it.

Happy birthday today (83) to Armin Hary. Nice going, Olli. Hary won the Rome 100 in 1960 and ran the second leg on Germany's winning four by 100 relay team. He was born in an area of Germany (Quierschied) not far from the French border.
