Happy birthday today (Wednesday) to two Olympic champions with a combined age today of 114 years.

These two champions competed in a total of four Olympic Games and won a total of three Olympic gold medals, two Olympic silver medals, and one Olympic bronze medal.

The older of these two athletes was 38 when the younger person was born.

You might be interested to know that these two individuals were born approximately 5,926 miles (9,536 km) from each other.

No hurdles were involved in any of the combined six Olympic medals.

Both athletes competed in the Olympic Games in Asia.

They did not compete in the same Olympic events.

One of our birthday athletes won four World Indoor gold medals and three World Championship gold medals.

Our birthday people were not born in South America, Australia, or Africa.

Time is up. Please name these two Olympic champions for this very first Wednesday of June.

YI would be Yelena Isinbaeva. Lemme think about EM. It can't be Edwin Moses because of the hurdles.

Happy 38th birthday today to Yelena Isinbayeva. Very good, tandfman. Isinbayeva, of course, won the women's pole vault in Athens (2004) and in Beijing (2008). She took the Olympic bronze medal in London (2012). You're also right about Edwin Moses (born in August).

OK, I just re-crunched those numbers and realized that the older one medaled in Tokyo in '64. Did a little more thinking and came up with Edith McGuire.

Happy 76th birthday today to Edith McGuire (Duvall). Edith McGuire won the gold medal in the women's 200 at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. She took the Olympic silver medal in the Tokyo 100 and she ran on the American four by 100 relay team that got the silver medal in Tokyo. Today, Edith McGuire Duvall lives in Oakland, California and still follows track and field. Nice job, tandfman.
