      Try again, since we have a women's throwing event. Petra Felke in 1988 Olympics but I have no idea about a WR for her in 1985 although she certainly could have set one.

        But didn't both Kate Schmidt and Babe Didrikson hold the women's JT WR?? That's 2 Merkans

          I think Petra Felje won the JT in Seoul, and if that is right I seem to remember she set a WR with exactly 80 meters.

              Not sure how I forgot Kate Schmidt's world record and I don't think Babe Didrikson held the women's javelin world record, but you are correct about Petra Felke, bambam1729. Felke set the world record at 75.40 (247' 4") on this date in 1985 in a meet in Schwerin, East Germany. She went on to win the Olympic gold medal in Seoul in 1988. Sorry, Kate.
