On Vitold Kreyer's final jump at the 1960 Rome Olympic triple jump, he passed American Ira Davis (16.43 to 16.41) to take the bronze medal. Davis tried to shake hands with Kreyer after that jump, but Kreyer refused to shake hands (probably thinking that he should wait until the competition was completed). On the victory stand, Vitold Kreyer was greeted with boos from the crowd which made Kreyer cry on the victory stand. I remember seeing pictures of him from Rome, but I don't specifically remember seeing it on television (CBS). Sorry to hear that he had died.
