Happy birthday today (Tuesday) to an Olympic champion who competed in three Olympic Games and in three different events.

This champion participated in World War I and died during World War II.

Our birthday athlete won two Olympic gold medals and two Olympic silver medals.

Born 120 years ago today, this champion died three weeks before turning 43.

One of our birthday athlete's Olympic gold medals came with a world record.

"The Sound of Music" won the 1965 Academy Award for the "Best Picture of the Year" and one its stars shares the same initials as our birthday champion.

All three Olympics our birthday athlete competed in were held in Europe.

No hurdles came with any of our birthday individual's Olympic events.

Please name this Olympic champion who was born on this day in August some 120 years ago.

Charlie Paddock was born 120 years ago today in Texas. He usually wore silk when he raced. He won two Olympic gold medals (100 and four by 100 relay) at the Antwerp Olympics in 1920. He took the silver medal in the 200 in Belgium. He was fifth in the 1924 Paris Olympic 100 and he took the silver medal in the 200 (again). He didn't make the 200 final at the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam. Very well done, J Rorick.
