  • R.I.P. Steve Bartold

Steve Bartold passed away at age 85. He was a darn good athlete in his day but better known as a coach at St John’s and Yale after Bob Giegengack. He coached Tom Farrell among others.

Notably, Steve served as the administrator of the IC4A meets for twenty years succeeding Larry Byrne. He only retired from that role in 2019. (For those of you outside the East unfamiliar with the IC4A, it is the oldest track & field meet in the USA dating back to the 1870s, and was the national championship before the NCAA existed.)

    May he Rest In Peace.

Sorry to hear this news. I never met him, but knew him by his reputation.
