    Violet Piercy

    In 1926 a British woman named Violet Piercy supposedly ran a marathon from Windsor to London along the original 1908 Olympic marathon course. It is occasionally listed as the first women's marathon record - she finished in 3-40:22. It is now considered irregular and probably short.
