    Els Vader (married name Scharn) passed away today aged 61.

    Vader won bronze at the European Indoors in 1985 over 200m and it was her 200m indoor record that Lieke Klaver recently broke. She competed in 3 Olympic Games - the 100& 200 in 80, 84 & 88, as well as the 4x100 in 88.

    Her PBs were
    100m: 11.17
    200m: 22.81
    400m: 52.78
    60mi: 7.11
    200mi: 23.34

      There can't have been many athletes, male or female who ran in the 100 and 200 at all 3 Olympics in the 80s? I wouldn't be too surprised if she was the only one?

        Vader didn't run the 200 in 1988. Only 3 Olympians ran in 5 of 6 sprint events in the 1980s - nobody ran in all 6. All 3 women. Els Vader, Merlene Ottey, and Marisa Massullo of Italy
