Can't verify it from any sources yet, but got a note that former WR-setting quartermiler Lou Jones died last week.

Lou Jones's 45.4 from Mexico City in 1955 was the most shocking WR from my early years as a fan. From the time I started to pay attention to track as a 9 year old in 1950 it was always George Rhoden's 45.8 that was the WR. 5 years is a long time at that age.
Nice picture in The Times of Jones, Jim Lea 45.6 and Jesse Mashburn 46.0? from the 1955 race.
