Happy birthday today (Tuesday) to two Olympic champions with a total of 135 years since their births in the same continent.

The older athlete qualified for the first of five Olympic Games just four days after the younger person's birth.

These two champions were born approximately 680 miles (1,094 kms) apart.

Born on a Tuesday, the older individual was 21 years old when the younger athlete was born.

Both people won two Olympic medals at a total of seven Olympic Games.

One of our champion's medals came with a world record.

Did I tell you that one of these athletes won a World Indoor gold medal?

I imagine you must know who these two people are.

Happy 57th birthday today to Butch Reynolds. Willie Davenport was born 78 years ago today. Nice going, Olli. Good guess.

Davenport was born in Alabama and made four consecutive Olympic teams in the 110 hurdles. In Tokyo (1964), he did not make the final after suffering an injury in Japan. Four years later in Mexico City (1968), Davenport won the Olympic gold medal in the 110 hurdles. At Munich (1972), Willie was fourth in the hurdles. Montreal (1976) was his final Olympics in track & field and he took the bronze medal in the 110 hurdles. He did make the 1980 Olympic team for the Winter Olympics and was 12th place in the four-man bobsleigh.

Davenport died of a heart attack in Chicago in 2002 at the age of 59.

Butch Reynolds was born 57 years ago in Ohio. He made two Olympic teams in the 400. In Seoul (1988), he took the Olympic silver medal in the 400 and anchored (43.93) the gold medal winning four by 400 relay team five days after winning that Olympic silver medal. That relay team tied the world record at 2:56.16.

In Atlanta (1996), Reynolds did not make the 400 final at his last Olympics.
