  • Old vs New Javelin.

I don't recall if this has been covered before but what would be the approximate equivalent of a 90.00 meter throw "new model" vs "old model"?

Would such a throw be 3, 4, 5 meters longer with the old implement?

I think we have covered this at some point. My answer? There's no way to tell. It's pretty individual.

Yes. For any individual throw, there are too many variables to be able to convert. There was one study done early on showing 4-6m ON AVERAGE for all elite throwers but this was limited to a single year just after the change. I could never find an updated version of the study.

Here's a very similar question to which I provided a link to an old thread with the most detail.

Depends a lot on the wind, too. The difference would be much larger with headwinds than tailwinds.
