Happy 55th birthday today (Monday) to an Olympic champion who shares initials with another Olympic champion from a very similar event.

Our birthday athlete won Olympic gold at one Olympic Games and that gold medal came with a world record.

The other Olympic champion (with same initials) was born about 28 years before our birthday athlete.

Neither individual (birthday person or other champion with same initials) was involved in the Olympic hurdles.

Both champions won Olympic gold in Europe and were born approximately 4,358 miles (7,013 kms) from each other.

That other athlete (with the same initials) won Olympic gold in the same country in which this person was born.

You may know that our birthday champion won two World Championship gold medals and one World Championship silver medal.

Please name our birthday athlete on this President's Day in the U.S.A.

Good luck and remember that no research is allowed.

I'm guessing Leroy Burrell, the other LB being Livio Berutti

Leroy Burrell was born 55 years ago today in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Nice going, noone. You are also correct about Livio Berruti.

Leroy Burrell placed fifth in the 100 at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. A week later, he ran the second leg on the winning American four by 100 relay team that set a world record of 37.40 (one of my favorite track & field videos to watch is that relay race).

Of course you know that Livio Berruti (Italy) won the 1960 Olympic 200 in Rome. Leroy Burrell was born about six and one-half years after Berruti's Olympic victory in Rome.

I'm sure you know that Leroy Burrell is the head track & field coach at the University of Houston. That explains our title (Sam Houston).

      Thank you, noone.
