Happy birthday today (Wednesday) to an Olympic champion who won two Olympic gold medals at two Olympic Games.

Our birthday athlete was born 89 years ago today, however was only 56 when this champion died less than 1,500 miles from the place where this individual was born.

Another Olympic champion, sharing the same initials with our birthday athlete, won Olympic gold in a similar event about 32 years after our birthday person won Olympic gold.

Both people (birthday person and athlete with same initials) came from countries speaking the same language.

Time to name our birthday champion on this fourth and last Wednesday of February.

Born 1933 so probably 1956-1960 - you didn't say skip the hurdles so possibly Glenn Davis or Lee Calhoun, but Davis won relay gold medals to so he won more than 2 gold medals.

I'll say Lee Calhoun. Now back on USA soil at the Salt Lake City airport. Still 15 hours away from home because or horrible flight connections.

I guessed it down to Calhoun as well, before bam's post but can't get a 24/28 LC hurdler. But even if I think of one, Bam has beaten me if he's correct.

Lee Calhoun was born in Mississippi 89 years ago today. Very nice, bambam1729. Hope you have a smooth trip home.

Lee Calhoun (one of my favorite hurdlers) won the 110 hurdles at the 1956 and the 1960 Olympic Games (Melbourne and Rome).

He died in Pennsylvania in 1989 at the age of 56.

You are absolutely right, Tuariki. I made a pretty dumb mistake and I apologize. Lindford Christie is correct. Christie ran 100 meters and Calhoun ran 110 meters (with some hurdles). Sorry, dukehjsteve.
