R.I.P. to the Big Ten Miler of the 20th Century. I believe he was only person to win four straight Big Ten-mile championships during his time at Wisconsin. He also was a 2-time Wisconsin High School State mile champion in 1945 and 1946 running 4:28,8 in 1945 and 4:31.0 in 1946 under Coach Roy Schmidt at Pulaski HS in Milwaukee. I remember his name and records growing up and running in the 50's in Chicago. He lived a long, productive, and successful life with his many family generations.
