Happy birthday today (Monday) to an Olympic champion who was born 77 years ago today.

Our birthday champion competed in four consecutive Olympic Games, but not in the hurdles.

You might know that this athlete set more than one world record and won a total of four Olympic medals.

The title of our thread is a definite understatement.

This champion died about nine months ago in Australia.

Two of the four Olympic medals won by our birthday champion were won in Europe.

Please name this birthday athlete on this very first Monday of October in 2022.

Oerter's medals were won in Australia, Europe, Asia, America; hence not him. Saneyev probably.

Viktor Saneyev was born 77 years ago today. Very nice, noone.

Viktor Saneyev won three consecutive Olympic gold medals in the triple jump (1968, 1972, and 1976).

He took the silver medal in the triple jump at the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games.

Saneyev died on the second day of this year (2022) at the age of 76 in Australia.

Of course he was an excellent triple jumper, if not the best ever.

Thank you, noone, 79, and Olli.

I got here too late, this is the first one that I was able to guess in my head before scrolling down. Small victories.
