Happy birthday today (Tuesday) to an Olympic champion who was born in a capital city 43 years ago today.

Our birthday individual competed in the same event at two consecutive Olympics and won Olympic medals at both of those Games.

This champion has a brother who was also a very good athlete in track and field.

You might remember another Olympic champion (sharing the same initials with our birthday person) who won Olympic gold about 76 years before our birthday athlete.

Both our birthday champion and this other Olympic champion won Olympic gold medals by competing in the same event and both were born in the same continent.

Time to name this birthday athlete on this first Tuesday of 2023.

Thank you for not using any research (except your brain) and good luck.

Happy 43rd birthday yesterday (Tuesday) to Bryan Clay. Nice going, gm.

Bryan Clay was born in Austin, Texas, on the first Thursday of 1980. His family moved to Hawaii where he graduated from James B. Castle High School.

Clay made two U.S. Olympic teams in the decathlon. He won the silver medal in the decathlon at the 2004 Athens Olympics and four years later, he won the Olympic gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

I was very impressed with Bryan Clay's abilities in the decathlon. Pound for pound, inch for inch, I think Bryan Clay was one of the best decathletes ever.

Thank you, gm, Bruce Kritzler, and J Rorick.

How do Bryan Clay and Jim Bausch share the same initials?

It's not James Bausch. My clue was "Both our birthday champion and this other Olympic champion won Olympic gold medals by competing in the same event and were born in the same continent."

The decathlon is made up of ten different events. This other Olympic champion competed and won in one of those ten events.

                .
Pound for pound, maybe one of the greatest athletes of all time... Most impressive at 5'11/180 are his throws PBs: SP 53'4, JT 236'2, DT 183'3

"Throwing your weight" (ft/lbs) in the discus is a pretty tough thing to do, even for a discus specialist.

                Happy Birthday BC
