Happy birthday today (Thursday) to two Olympic champions that are known today as Athlete "W" and Athlete "T".

These two champions have a total of 193 years since their births.

Our birthday athletes won a total of three Olympic silver medals and three Olympic gold medals at a total of four Olympic Games.

The two individuals were born about 5,767 miles (9,281 kms) from each other.

Don't worry about the hurdles when thinking of Olympic events for these athletes.

Athlete "W" carried the national flag during the Opening Ceremonies at the second of two Olympic Games.

You might be interested to know that Athlete "W" was 13 years old when Athlete "T" was born.

"T" died three days after turning 78 years old, while "W" was 72 years old at death.

Neither champion was born in Australia, Africa, Antarctica, Asia, or South America.

Without using research, please name our two Olympic champions on this last Thursday of May.

    Good luck to you.

Athlete "W" (for William?) was born in 1920, so competed in 1948 and later. Arthur Wint?

Arthur Wint was born in Jamaica 103 years ago today. Nice job, Davidokun.

Arthur Wint won the Olympic silver medal in the 800 at the 1948 London Olympics and three days later, he won the gold medal in the 400. Jamaica did not finish the four by 400 relay in London because Arthur Wint pulled a muscle running the third leg for Jamaica and quit the race.

Wint won another Olympic silver medal in the 800. This time it was at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Three days after that silver medal, Wint placed fifth in the 400. He ran the first leg (46.8) on the winning four by 400 relay in Finland. Jamaica ran 3:03.9 for a world record, beating the United States (3:04.0).

Arthur Wint died in October of 1992, at the age of 72.

      Thank you, Davidokun.

I first read about Wint in a copy of Franz Stampfl on Running my father borrowed from a colleague, way back when I was in my teens.

Romuald Klim was born in Belarus (U.S.S.R.) 90 years ago today. Excellent, bambam1729.

Romuald Klim won the hammer throw at at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. He was 31 years old in Tokyo. Four years later, in Mexico City, Klim took the silver medal at the 1968 Olympics..

He was 78 years old in May of 2011, when he died in Belarus.

            Thank you, bambam1729.

When I saw the title, I was all set to claim today's glory with Robert Korzeniowski. Alas, it was immediately clear that he wasn't old enough.

(If we've already come up with our guess, is it considered "research" to do an online check to get the proper spelling?)

My Bro and I always joked about Romuald Klim's name, as Klim spelled backwards is milk. So, whenever we had a glass of milk, we called it "Romuald." Weird, I know, but there it is.

Would be easier if all Korzeniowskis change their names to Conrad, wouldn't it?

Yes, that would be research. Correct spelling is not always mandatory.
