...got me to thinking about other dynamic athlectic duos who were brothers. I'm talking track. Gale a Nebraska state long jump champ and Roger a world class sprinter. Hard to believe Gale Sayers had a faster brother....huh?
Let's see...
SMU had Gene & Joe Pouncy who ran on a high school record 4x1 while at Lincoln High. Texas A&M had Curtis & Marvin Mills. Curtis a sub 45.0 guy, Marvin a 9.5/20/5 type. Texas Western had Zeak & Terry Williams. Both in that 9.5 range. Then there's the Enzinwa's, Powell's and Fraters. The fastest brothers ever. USC had Joel a sprinter and Thomas Andrews a hurdler. The Sanfords could move! Not sure if Ray Quarrie was Don's brother or cousin. Did you know Tommie Smith had a younger brother Ernie, who ran the hurdles/sprints at Oregon State? Can't forget Jackie and Mack Robinson. What was the name of those brothers who ran on the 4x4 at Texas recently?
Strange but we see few father & son combos isn't it? Olympian Millard Hampton (UCLA) father, Millard senior was a standout sprinter while in high school. Then there's.....ah....
