I ran a big 5K road race in Indianapolis today, but what's interesting here is who finished a very respectable 23rd overall, 4th in 45-49 age group, in 19:05.3; Sunder Nix !

Grazyna Syrek won her first national title in the 4x400 relay and eventually became a 2:26 marathon runner.
Fernando Mamede competed in the 1971 European championships in the 4x4 and went on to set a WR at 10000.Było smaszno, a jaszmije smukwijne...

At last ! Someone responded to the subject of the thread ! Needless to say Sunder looked very fit and was out there having a good time and also running quite well.

Remember when Alan Page (defensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings) took up running and ran one or more marathons? He was still in his playing days and he lost a lot of weight in the process and if I have the story right, the Vikes cut him because of the weight loss (1978), the Bears picked him up, and he proceeded to have one of the best years of his career (lighter, quicker).
