    Re: Fantasy men's 4x100

    Why GREENE from 2001?
Every time I watch the video of his Edmonton
100m final, I cannot refrain from thinking
that his 09"79 World Record would have been
exploded hadn't he been injured at the end
    of this race(09"80)...
To my mind, that day, he could have broken
    the incredible 09"70 wall.
This was Mo's most impressive 100m, I think.

Well, that just changed my whole perspective on the situation.

        I agree.
Mo's 9.82s from Edmonton is his best ever 100m race. Probably equal alongside his 9.87s(-0.3m/s headwind) in Sydney OG 2000, in damp, cold conditions, with a reaction time of 0.197s(!!!)
(This was due to the fact that there are estimates from video-footage of the race, that the starter was standing approximately 20-25m from the athletes!!!)

Mo's RT of 0.197s is terrible when we know that he is a pretty decent starter with an average RT of around 0.12-0.14s(0.117-0.137s to be precise!)

The RT alone lost him 0.08-0.06s.

I think we should start a thread on
        'Best Ever 100m races'
        to settle a long,ongoing arguement...

        By the way,
79 have you ever posted at the 'MoGreene Forums'???

Your lay out and expressions of emotions when posted replies to topics looks very familar???...

Yes, I did, a few month ago... under the name
          Farmony.
I suppose that you are the famous X.King who
reigns over the World of stats?
Unfortunately, Mo GREENE's board has become
quite vulgar, and is, I think, more a window
          for Mo's young fans.
This T&F NEWS board is a real gift for the wide
family of track purists and statisticians.
          Respect.

            Hi Farmony.
I thoughts that it was you.

            Long time no see...

You're quite right about the MoGreene message boards.
It's a very sad to see what used to be people posting some inetresting comments and thoughts, to now see people posting pathetic comments and advertisments.

            Respect!

Dang! I went to Mo's site to see what kind of good words they were using, but it's virtually impossible to find any actual posts. I've never seen so much spam in my life! Doesn't anybody ever moderate that thingie?

No,I don't think that anyone actually moderates the forums.

                It's a shame.

If there was any moderation, all the spam(amonst other things) would be sorted out...

                  Re: Fantasy men's 4x100

I don't think James Sanford or Calvin Smith ran, I am not sure about Steve Williams, Willie Gault or Houston McTear.

Im' now positive about Willie Gault finishing 5th in the 100 meters in the 80' Olympic Trials, because he also finished 5th in the 110 high hurdles as well. He had just finished his freshman year at the University of Tennessee. The class of College Freshman for the 79-80 school year was loaded with great sprinters.
Carl Lewis, Willie Gault, Stanley Floyd, Calvin Smith and Im' sure I missed a bunch. Does anyone remember Bill Green, I believe he ran High School track for a school in Texas and he had the fastest high school time in the 400 meters in 1979 (45.50)? I don't remember hearing anything else about him afterwards.

(Of note: I was an incoming freshman at a small community college that same year and I was one of the top ten-thousand high school 220 yard dash runners in the U.S. in 1979. (22.1).

That sounds like a great answer. Only problem is, what the heck was the question?!!

The team of Jon Drummond to Maurice Greene to MJ to Carl Lewis would have been devastating!

                        Re: Fantasy men's 4x100

                        Original question:
Aside from Stanley Floyd, does anyone know may who would have benn the six desinated runers fro the U.S. $x 100 team in the boycotted 1980 Olympics. I believe Willie Gault finished 5th in the 100 put Im' unsure of the other places. (I was so mad I kind of tuned things out that year).

                        1st response:
I don't think James Sanford or Calvin Smith ran, I am not sure about Steve Williams, Willie Gault or Houston McTear.

                        Next response:

I am interested in any additional information about the 1980 Olympic Trials.

replace MJ with Dennis Mitchell you have a 36. something relay other than that you are only 37.4 - 37.2

                            Re: Fantasy men's 4x100

Dennis Mitchell's fastest time for a 3rd leg is 9.22s from the Tokyo WCH 1991 Men's 4x100m final.

MJ ran 10.1x on the curve in Atlanta during his 19.32s.

If he was running the 3rd leg, he would easily run 9.0-9.2x

If he pushed it to the max possibly a 8.9x...

Nobody thought he was capable of 19.32s, so why can't he run a 3rd leg in sub-9.00sec?

                            Or a 1st leg in sub-10.00sec?
