Probably requires registration (hard to tell sometimes when you're a registree and some sites allow partial access)

Here's a little memory of mine about Geoge Frenn :

I believe it was at the AAU meet in 1966 at Randalls Island in New York City:

They held the Hammer on an adjacent field. On one of his throws George was called for a foul. The gathered spectators, up close and personal around the cage, all groaned and hollered in protest... as did George, hollering at all us fans, " Did I foul folks?! " We all hollered back " No !! " . The official then backed down and called it a fair throw !

Edit to add a few hours later: I just researched this memory. It was at the SemiFinal Trials in 1964. There's even a mention of it in meet write-up in T&FN.

Love him or hate him (there wasn't much middle-ground of opinion about him), George Frenn was a force of nature both physically and socially.
