How about some props for an SEC man, the great Forrest "Spec" Towns of the University of Georgia!!! Gold medal in Berlin '36 and former WR holder.

Towns is a great track story. I'm going to try to dig up some info on him. Not that it would be news to the track junkies on here! ;-)

Nice write-up on Spec Towns at the above link, complete with reference to "The Bible" at the bottom of the story. :-)

Nehemiah WOULD have been the best ever but Moscow took the wind out of his sails and then the NFL foray was the end. He had the greatest talent. Harrison Dillard was another.

I'll go with " Bones" Dillard.

I'd go with any of these three as all time best:
            Lee Calhoun
            Rod Milburn
            Skeets

Dillard of course first. Then Attlesey, Milburn, Nehemiah, Towns in any order you want.

What I wrote, I now realize, is not fair to Calhoun, especially, Jack Davis and, among the moderns, Foster for sure. and probably Kingdom, Jackson and Johnson.

This is a tough one -- no one stand out head and shoulders above the rest.

                  Using these criteria:
                  http://personal.bgsu.edu/~jsquire/intro.pdf

                  I came up with this:
                  http://personal.bgsu.edu/~jsquire/M110H.pdf

Certain to raise an argument, or at least have several people call me an idiot.

And before anyone jumps on me, I definitely think that needs a re-write. Wolcott probably deserves ranking, and Johnson has earned a higher spot.

My top quintet are Skeets Nehemiah,Rod Milburn, Allen Johnson, Willie Davenport and Lee Quincy Calhoun. I have Ol'Bones Dillard,Greg Foster and Roger Kingdom following that group.

I think tafnut has it about right! Nehemiah was in my opinion the best ever!

                            1. Harrison Dillard - 52 OG + 3 golds in other events. The standard of his time.
                            2. Willie Davenport - 68 OG + 3 other Olympic teams, great breadth to his career.
                            3. Lee Calhoun - first double Olympic champ
                            4. Allen Johnson - a gold next year will likley place him #1.
                            5. Roger Kindgom - second double Olympic champ
                            6. Renaldo Nehimiah - dominant for about 4 years, first man under 13-flat. His move to the NFL was one of the worst ideas in sports history.
                            7. Rod Milburn - 72 OG
                            8. Guy Drut - 76 Gold + 72 Silver, first man to run 13-flat
                            9. Greg Foster - 3 WCH golds, but never able to beat Nehimiah or Kingdom at their best.
                            10. Colin Jackson - never an Olympic Gold & only 1 WCH, but his world record still stands.

Actually Colin Jackson has 2 WCH titles from Stuttgart 1993(12.91s current WR) & Sevilla WCH 1999(13.04s SB for '99)

He has many Indoor titles aswell, or does Indoors not count in the discussion of who has more medals?
