  • Researcg: Oldest High School Only Track Invitational

I am doing research to find out what the oldest high school only track and field invitational is. This is meets that are high school only, no university or post-collegiate events like Penn (108), Drake (est. 1910), or Texas (76 yrs old). BYU's high school meet (est. 1911) takes claim of this but I believe they have university events in the meet so they would not really get the title. Golden West (est. 1960)claims to be the oldest high school championship meet but I don't know how they define championship meet. Southwest Missouri State has a high school only invitational that is going on 80 years this spring. I think this may be the oldest meet with only high school competition. Any help?

Re: Researcg: Oldest High School Only Track Invitational

Back in the late 50's, there was an invitatoional meet in New Jersey called the Englewood Invitational. (Site of John Mostyn's 1958( ? ) 100 yard "9.3" that turned out to be only 95 yards)

Have no idea if that meet is still up and running or how old it was back then.
