      Well seen,Steve...
      Indeed, our man is Chip JENKINS (1992 Barcelona
      Games). His father is the famous Charlie JENKINS
      who was a 400m and 4x400m golden hero in 1956
      at the Melbourne Olympics...

        a 'family' trivia question I'll throw in.. what family had a Decathlon WR holder, a Javelin WR & Oly. gold, and a triplejumper who did 35'7 1/2 for age-67 WR?(3 different family members)

          Guess - the Jarvinen family (Finland).

              <Jarvinen?>

              Yes, Matti was one of the greatest javelinists of all time (WR + Oly Champ). Brother Akilles (?) was a great decathlete. The TJ part is a guess.

                  Given your obsession with Lou Jones, he was obviously one of them.

                      Hi bf. I presume my answer of the Jarvinen family of Finland was incorrect.

                        still waiting for the other 2 400 x 4 relay runners on USA winners in Melbourne. I thought that was an easy question. We have Lou Jones and Charlie Jenkins but need 2 more. No hints.

                          I think you're looking for J.W. Mashburn and Tom Courtney.

                            as they used to say on "Family Feud", " Good Answer ! "

                            And shades of Henry Carr in 1964, the non 400 runner ran the anchor !

                              The compeitition in Tokyo was much stiffer and it was fairly critical who ran the anchor leg. In Melbourne, Courtney (a great 800 m runner)
                              had much less of a challenge. Further, Henry Carr with a little specialization, could have been the best 400 m man of his time.
