re: indoor wr's 'not counting' - they should count, and be respected, as indoor wrs. Different facilities, but worthy of seperate WR status for what they're worth. Trivia question: name all the superior indoor marks (to outdoor WRs). For starters, times by Nurmi, Cunningham, Puttemans. And numerous PVs,HJs, and Shot (Blozis?, Woods). And most importantly (for stat nitpickers like meself), exactly how do indoor facilities compare to a standard outdoor track/runway/implement etc.??

In the HJ,I've already mentioned performances by Brumel and Yashchenko; Thomas had a whole bunch in 1959 and 1960 when his injured foot ( elevator accident ) dashed his outdoor 1959 season.

In PV Uelses had 2 16 footers before he could get outdoors.

There were then a whole bunch of indoor wr's after that for a year or so, topped by Nikula's big night when he got up to about 16' 8+".

That's all my memory can quickly dredge up.
