Anyone know what was the exact year the high school rulebook changed the middle distance events from the mile & 2 Mile to the 1600 & 3200 meters? I know it was after 1976 and it had to be late 1970's or early 1980's.

it's state to state. oregon runs 1500m/3000m. -

I believe Massachusetts still does Mile/2 Mile, but metric from 800 down. Outdoor state meet 2 mile record is still Salazar's (9:00ish), I believe.Comment
