As I recall his list was made using a very specific formula allotting points for certain championships, WRs, age of WR, etc. Pretty good overall, but in this case it bumped Beamon up at least a couple of spots I would not because his bogus WR lasted so damn long.

I don't know how a 400m thread got hijacked by a silly comment by eldrick regarding the LJ, but since we're there, I've got to chime in and say that the notion that Carl is not the GOAT in the LJ is absurd.

Take any LJ performer's 10 best jumps (indoor & altitude included) and Carl's average is probably 8 inches better. Exclude altitude and Carl may be a foot better. Okay statistics people, show us. John George
