"I think we should gather all the surviving finalists"

You'll have to wait til after the race to see who that will be.

From what I have seen of Borzov you will have to roll him out for the final, same with Hary and Morrow........

Really? He's not old, so what gives? I mean, he can't be more than 53. Is he sick or something?

I think before the Sydney Oylmpics they gathered all the surviving 100 meter champions for a dinner all showed up except for Hary(don't know why) Borzov was 30 pounds overweight.

Excellent! And now how about the lane assignment from that race?

Disregard my last posting. The names got scrambled as I typed. FALKEN's order is of course the correct one.

Borzov weighs something like 110 kg now. I saw a pic online recently.

I think Wells was capable of winning but I would not have bet on him against Floyd, Sanford, Lattany. On the other hand...Wells I believe still made the final in the Helsinki WC in the 100 and 200 so he was no slouch by any means. Good race that never was.

Another good question would be would Mennea have won the 200 in MOscow with American 200 runners. My answer would be yes. Mennea placed third in the Helsinki WC 200 behind Calvin Smith and Eliot Quow. I know his 19.73 was run at altitude with Maximium wind but I think he still was a consistent 20.0 and a few hundreths runner. He also made the 200 final I believe in 72, 76, 80 (won) and 84...that is consistency!

In the 1983 WC final, Wells beat everyone who was not Carl Lewis, Calvin Smith, or Emmitt King...

Allan Wells also (co)wrote a book titled
"The Allan Wells Book of Sprinting." My high school coach had a copy....

                            Most likely.
