Jumper aims to set his record straight...

Blaine Newnham of the Seattle Times writes today's column about former University of Washington long jumper Phil Shinnick's attempt to have his 1963 world record of 8.33 meters, set 25 May in Modesto, CA., ratified by the IAAF.

Newnham writes that the records committee will discuss this matter at this week's USATF Convention in Greensboro, NC.
