  • USA 4x1

The HSI ran a 37.65. Only USA National teams have ever ran faster. In 1932 a USA 4x1 team without any of the 100m guys won the Olympics. I'm thinking we (USA) pick a team of guys with 10.00-10.10 ish speed and relay experience at a particular leg. We can plug in the anchorman with whoever the stud100m man is (Gay!) The other three legs are like Marsh to Burrell to Heard. They know each other and have the handoffs down.

The 4x1isn't about who has the most speed out there. It's about who can get that stick home first. One bad handoff can spell doom for any team.

The USA always has the fastest "group" of sprinters.

It may be a testimony to their talent that IN SPITE of their poor stick-shuttling the guys win anyway--as in Osaka.

I certainly agree with your point about the importance o f baton technique.

I'm still seeing ''that'' USA team with smooth passing beating JAM's best efforts.

Campbell is a 10.02 guy. Patton is not!
Bolt is faster than Spearmon and proved that.
Yes Gay would have whipped up on Mullings, just not as bad as he did Carter
Powell is farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr faster than Leroy Dixon

Apparently ya must have misunderstood well...everything!

The USA ran a weak team. A team that could have lost to the "A" Jamaican team. Since we didn't see the "A" Jamaican team and the team we did see passed about as poorly as the USA team......hmmm?

No, he's not saying that. He is saying that the Jamaican sprinters who ran in the 4x100m in Osaka are potentially a faster/better team than the US sprinters who ran in the 4x100m in Osaka.

Jesus, I never thought I'd be agreeing with Texas, but I can completely see where he's coming from here.

Oh, and here's another spanner to throw in the works - the US team in Osaka should have been DQ'ed after Tyson pushed Dixon on the last leg.

When you get into 'could haves' you throw away the rationality to begin with.

                          a. the USA team that was there beat the Jamaican team that was there.
                          b. the USA A team (mine) would have beaten any Jam A team.

Those are the two extremes of the 'reality'. Anything else in between is kinda pointless (to me).

Didn't ESPN have a playoff to see who the greatest NFL really was? Didn't some computer have the Ali vs Marciano fight? So you've never thought...
