    Here's the question:

This former British Olympic champion once said of a young Roger Bannister in 1953: "What he needs now is confidence in his own ability. Modesty - a characteristic of Wooderson - in Bannister amounts to an almost complete reluctance to acknowledge his greatness. He has the brains to plan and dominate the Olympic Final as Lovelock did in 1936. To beat the world - and I believe he can - he must cultivate a purposeful aggression".

NAME THIS FORMER BRITISH OLYMPIC CHAMPION.

we are all just guessing, so I will say Harold Abrahams... as i know he was involved with track administration as an older man.

I'll go with Abrahams too, failing that, Lord Burghley. They were probably both president of the old A.A.A. at some point.

My guess would be Douglas Lowe or Lord Burghley

It was Harold Abrahams. The quote is on page 127 of Bannister's "First Four Minutes."

                        Re: Track Track

Speaking of Abrahams and Bannister, Harold Abrahams was one of the 3 official timers for Bannister's WR. But, then you all knew that didn't you.
